I didn’t really like how the character development wrapped up, especially in regards to Alex. So, beyond not appreciating the overall pacing of this book, which was slower than it really needed to be.

The fact that Lauren and her best friend have created the Crone Institute is amazing. This pacing, for me at least, is the primary reason that this doesn’t live up to Spoiler Alert. It was a bit slower, with them not even really admitting their love until over half-way through the book. It was just so great, however, the pacing for this didn’t feel as smooth as the first. Alex was just so snarky and chaotic in the best way, whereas, Lauren was more pragmatic and witty. I’m here for the levels of serotonin that this series gives me. But he is determined to keep her close and starts by taking her on a road trip down the California coast. It’s a apparently too tall of an order, because when Alex lands himself in another scandal, Lauren loses her job.
